Bummer

Rylee and I spent a boring day at home yesterday waiting for her to poop. But like the saying goes, a watched butt never poops. :) The poop fairy finally granted us with a nice deposit this morning so after I scooped and mixed three separate vials, it was off to the lab.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a drop and run. Rylee had to have blood drawn as well. She was quite the trooper. Even though she going to have beautiful arm veins like her mother someday, right now they are pretty tiny. I'll admit I averted my gaze when they stuck her.

She cried a little but then they gave her a sticker and she forgot all about it. It said "Hero: Give me a hug, I was bave today." Aaah... She got plenty of hugs and kisses from me and as an extra reward, we went to the park and had a great time.

The rest of the week and weekend is going to be busy (for me at least): tomorrow night I'm hitting a movie with my mom and Jeanine (a visiting friend from MN), Thursday night is book club night at Venessa's, and Saturday is an all day shopping excursion on the other coast. I'll probably blog ahead some pictures and catch up on blogs when I can. Have a great week everyone!

Bemidji Beavers

With her Vikings apparel not needed until next season (stupid overtime loss still burns me!), Rylee pulled out her BSU T-shirt instead. Of course I demanded a photo op of her and Daddy in his BSU gear. She wasn't very cooperative so Jon had to resort to some interesting tactics...

... but he finally got some smiles. :)

Then she really started to ham it up. See her Bucky the Beaver mascot impression below!

Husband Humor

Yesterday I left Jon this note in case he got home before Rylee and I (he did):

Be back soon-
Dead lizard under pool screen outside
(in yard)
You'll see :)
Love you!

I should have wrote pool skimmer thing as Jon thought I meant pool fence. Luckily Rio went right to the spot I had marked so he was able to remove the carcass for me.

To get back at me for my crazy note, he left me this one in it's place:

I'm here now-
Horny husband in living room
(with beer)
You'll see :)
Love you!

Post-Nap Ritual

When Rylee wakes up from her nap she wants these things:

- her snuggly blanket to curl up with on the "cow" (couch),
- her "milk" (ie rice milk),
- a snack (something cinnamon-y and cookie-ish please),
- a DVR'd episode of Mickey's Clubhouse (this is the only TV she watches so don't judge!) and...
- "Ree Ree" (whether I'm there or not doesn't seem to matter!).

*Rylee loves repetition in names. She has renamed herself "Ry Ry."

Look out, Elton!

Although Rylee enjoyed wearing her wraparounds, after seeing her paparazzi photos online she decided she needed a big girl pair of shades (preferably polka dotted - check, and Hello Kitty - double check). As you can see here, she's feeling quite groovy!

They are a little easier to take on and off too. Not sure if that is a good thing. :)

"Ree Ree"

My Aunt Judy and Uncle Jack were in town over the weekend. Some of you may remember that my Aunt Judy is a skilled artist as she made Rylee and I this beautiful painting of Cabin 7 at my grandparents resort. We both love it!

Anyway... while she was here, she sat down (for about an hour - impressive!) and sketched and painted all the dogs in our family (past and present): my childhood Chihuahua, Dancer; my Mom's two Pomeranians, Bandit and now Angel; and our lovable Shih Tzu, Rio (or Ree Ree as Rylee has renamed her). I don't have a photo of my Mom's paintings, but here is Rio. Judy so captured her scruffy likeness! I was so touched and I love it. Thank you, thank you! (Sorry about the flash reflection, it was too dark to really see the detail without it.)

"May the Force Be With You"

Jon and I have Star Wars on the brain lately. Maybe it's because we just watched the movie Fan Boys or because I bought Rylee the Star Wars Heroes board book... it doesn't really matter.

On Saturday night after Jon and I returned home (from our dinner and a movie date to celebrate our 18th dating anniversary), Rylee wanted to play with my sweater. I joked to Jon that if she wore it over head she'd look like Obi-Wan Kenobi. Combine this statement with a gloomy and boring Sunday afternoon and you get the following pictorial. :)

My favorite of the pics: Obi Rylee and Rio Ewok

Here she looks more like the Evil Master. :)

Her "light saber" also makes a great flossing tool...

This would have been better on video. She was weakly blowing on the whistle end of her light saber and it sounded exactly like Darth Vader. Like I said, you had to be there!
