Any Day?

Good news at the doctor office's today: 2 cm dilated! Of course this doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it's progress!

It sounds like we'll talk about inducing if nothing has happened by next weeks appt. Due to my swelling and past high blood pressure issues with Rylee, it sounds like they would prefer to induce at 39 weeks - which could be as early as the 10th.

I'm hoping things will progress naturally prior to that date, but it's nice to have an end in sight. I guess I better finish up those last few checklist items just in case. :)

Ryleeisms

Jon and Rylee were practicing hitting a ping pong ball with the paddle. After a particularly good hit, Rylee exclaimed, "I watched my eye on the ball."

After a loud crack of lightning sent Rio scurrying under the couch, Rylee told Jon, "that scared the Jesus right out of Rio."

This one was more precious than silly, but to our waitress after dinner at the Rustin Inn last night: "thank you for the delicious dinner!"

Happy Birthday Gaga!

Yesterday was Gaga's birthday, but we never had the chance to post on Blogger. We sent her Facebook messages and Rylee made her a video so hopefully she forgives us for being a day late!

Savannah, Brendan and Rylee made Gaga cards and we had birthday cupcakes for snack. Then Gaga made homemade pizzas for dinner (don't you love how I make my Mom make her own birthday dinner?!) and we opened presents (some removable plates for her George Forman grill and Nook bucks.) Today we're continuing the fun with a special seafood dinner at Rustic Inn. Jon and I haven't been there in years and my Mom (and Rylee) have never been.

Jon bought me the new George Forman for Mother's Day, but our new omelet plates came so we're going to try it out early. Gotta run. It's almost breakfast time. :)

Milk Challenge 2012

Rylee is ready for another try at milk products and this time the doctor suggested we start with yogurt (something Rylee hasn't eaten since she was a baby).  I had some on hand for the day care kids so Rylee ate a strawberry banana yoplait yesterday afternoon.  She loved it!  She wanted more right away, but she's only allowed one milk-based product a day during the trial period so I told her she had to wait. 

She mentioned it off and on all afternoon so I kept telling her that she had to wait until she went to bed, slept and got up in the morning.  Finally at 7:30 last night she couldn't take it anymore.  "I just want to go to bed right now!" she demanded.  No arguments there - we were about to start getting her ready for bed anyway, but her asking to go to bed is a real first! 

Fingers crossed that everything goes well this time around.  It would be great if we didn't have to worry about any food issues anymore - especially this summer when we're in MN and on vacation at Cedar Crest.  I'm trying to remain hopeful even though she pooped within 5 minutes of eating the yogurt yesterday.  Coincidence please?!  :)

Mommy Weekend

I made the most of my pre-newborn time this weekend. Saturday, my Mom and I went to "The Lucky One" (I didn't like the movie as much as the book, but it was still enjoyable) and then out for dinner at Bru's Room and dessert (for me) at Yogurt Dreams. Ironically, my Dad texted that he wished he was out eating dessert with us at the exact moment I was scarfing down my yogurt creation. He knows me so well!

Today was Venessa's bridal shower at Bimini Boat Yard. We had their breakfast and seafood brunch. OMG! I can't wait to take Jon there some weekend. He would have made a total spectacle of himself. :) I managed to restrain myself until it came to the dessert table- there was so much to choose from so I sampled three!

Then I had a cupcake from the shower. My Mom's cupcake (which she took to go) is looking pretty good to me now. But I should not eat a fifth dessert before weigh in at my doctors tomorrow. Not that shouldn't has ever stopped me before. Willpower is obviously not my strong suit! :)

I guess the title of this blog should have been Dessert Weekend!

Big Juicy Baby

I'm adding the above comment from my ob/gyn about my "big juicy baby" to my growing list of interesting comments during this pregnancy. I wasn't annoyed, I actually thought she said it very cute - it's just a comment I haven't heard before! :)

Both doctor appts went well this week. I'm supposed to start wearing the compression socks (yeah!) to help with the swelling. Who doesn't love thick, thigh-high white stockings when it's 90 degrees out. They are uber fashionable with my Capri pants and shorts. Luckily, only the kids and a few neighbors have to see me in them. :)

The other thing the doctor suggested was spending 45 min to an hour in the pool daily. This wouldn't be so bad except our pool is still frickin' freezing and I have to be in up to heart level. Seriously, the pool might be worse than the nylons!

Other than that, everything is still the same. Baby is fine. Nothing is really happening in the pre-delivery department, but I still have 4 weeks to go so I wasn't expecting much. No matter what happens, it won't be long now. I'm getting excited to meet our little guy... or should I say: "big juicy baby!"

Fancy Rylee

Yesterday Rylee attended a "Fancy Nancy" birthday party for her friend, Ava. It was an hour north (in Lake Worth) so Gaga was kind enough to drive us so I could keep my feet elevated in the car.

It was a really cool party. First, they all got "fancified" with tutus and boas, had their nails painted and hair sprayed with glitter.





















Then they played lots of fun group games, most of which were new to Rylee since she hasn't spent much time in school. The concept of musical "rugs" was somewhat lost on her. The first round she was the last kid standing because she always lets everyone else go first, but there was a rug standing up against the wall so she simply walked over, got it, went and sat down. Resourceful! :)

After lunch, they had a cookie decorating activity and since everything turned out to be milk free, Rylee actually got to participate. They even served tea (pink lemonade) in real glass tea cups. Too cute!

On the way home, we stopped at that fancy mall (pun intended) for some quick shopping. We ended up at World of Beer (for Gaga) and ordered from the fresh Mexican place. Yum!

Rylee wanted these colorful clip on hair extensions too. Very fancy!







It was a delightful day! :)

Lackluster Post

This is the second time I've written this post.  The first time it got lost in cyber space so I apologize for the shortened version.  Argh!

Friday night was my "Girl Scout" dinner with friends: Kim, Soni and Jenny.  We had a delicious meal and great conversation at Bonefish Grill.  I'm already looking forward to our next get together in Sept!
Jon and Rylee had a daddy/daughter dinner date as well at Rainforest Cafe.  Here is a pic of the duo before they left.  Ahhh...

 

Saturday was a chore day (thanks Mom for coming over to help) and then Rylee and I attended a birthday party for her friend, Shannon, at Pump It Up.  We had never been there before, but knew that it was one of those inflatable bounce house places.  Rylee had a blast on the big, fast slides.

When we got home, Jon and Rylee played outside together for over an hour (riding the four wheeler, playing with the RC cars, running etc).  I actually had to go outside right before dark to tell my two kids that it was time to come in and get ready for bed.  I'm not sure who was more disappointed.  :)

Today was another birthday party, but I think I'll save that for another post.  I have some cute pics on my phone that I need to upload.  Hope you all had a fun weekend too!

Baby Bump

My Mom bought Rylee a really neat book called "The Bump."  It tells a young child about when they were inside their Mommy's bump (if you didn't guess by the title!).  It is really cute and Rylee loves it. I highly recommend it too.  :)

 

Speaking of baby bumps, here are a couple shots of mine.  Not sure you can call it a bump anymore.  It's way too large for that terminology!

 

The ultrasound tech called it an "impressive belly" so I guess we'll go with that...

 

This week I started my weekly appts at both doctors (regular ob/gyn and high risk).  The ob's was just an in and out.  They won't start doing exams until next week I guess.  The high risk doctor included yet another ultra sound (I've lost count, but I've had 6-8 so far - he must feel like the paparazzi are stalking him) and then they strapped my belly up to some monitors that measures contractions and the baby's heartbeat, plus I had to push a button every time the baby moved.  I had two contractions (but they're just braxton hicks (sp?) or tightenings, nothing to worry about) and the baby got an A+++ for movement.  He wouldn't sit still at all.  I think I was driving them crazy with the buzzer sound which meant I didn't have to stay hooked up as long.  Let's hope he's a little over-achiever next week as well!

Oh and they estimated the "little" guy at 6 lbs 10 oz.  No wonder I have an "impressive belly."  Let's hope that 1 pound margin of error is in the negative direction.  :)

Easter Sunday

Jon was working a scuba diving class on Sunday morning (the students had a check out dive) so it was just Rylee and I hunting for eggs and baskets.  I videotaped her search so Jon could watch it later, which means I didn't take any photos.  But here she is revelling in the aftermath.  The mickey mouse basket and goodies inside weren't from the Easter Bunny, but my cousin Lilly.  She and Rylee are besties during the summer months.  It was super sweet of her to send something! :)

 



 

Afterwards she needed to take a rest on her new towel and pillow.  She was worn out from all that hunting!



 

Later we drove over to my Mom's for breakfast.  Rylee loved the Puffy Wuffy my mom made.  (The day care kids enjoyed the leftovers on Monday too.)  We vegged over there for a while and then all headed back to our place to meet Jon for swimming and burgers.  It was a non-traditional dinner since there's too much sodium in ham (with my current dietary restrictions).  My mom made homemade veggie burgers for us girls- they were fabulous! 

I hope everyone else had a wonderful holiday as well!

Easter Weekend

Easter started on Thursday this year since we wanted to celebrate with the day care kids before the long weekend.  They got Easter baskets, we did an egg hunt, and I made a special Easter snack: green ice cream with a marshmallow bunnies on top.

On Saturday, Rylee celebrated again at Gaga's house (while I was away at my baby shower).  The Easter bunny was very good to her over there.  She got lots of goodies in her basket: cute shorts, a new swimsuit, some doll shoes, a really cool book (I'm planning a special post on that later), and all the Easter eggs were filled with money!  Baby boy P even got a football egg full of money and the book "Mater & the Easter Buggy."  Like I said, my boy isn't even here yet and he is S-P-O-I-L-E-D!

Later that night after bath (hence the jammies and wet hair), we dyed our Easter eggs.  For the first time ever, we dyed both white and brown eggs.  The brown eggs work awesome!  You can actually see the white wax crayon on the egg so you can make more elaborate designs and the color comes out very rich.  Not sure why we never thought of trying them before, but we will definitely use them again. 

 

Rylee got a free egg dying kit from Build a Bear workshop when she made her Girl Scout bear so she used those stickers to decorate her eggs.  Here is the finished batch.  :)



 

Baby Shower #2

Today I attended a second baby shower! The Mommy's group I belong to hosted a shower for me and another member, Eva, who is also due in the next couple of weeks. We are both having boys so the organizer, Katie, went with a Dr. Seuss theme - Thing 1 (Eva's baby) and Thing 2 (my baby). Katie has her own party business online so everything was very cute!




All the ladies that attended wrote messages to us in Dr. Seuss's "The Cat in the Hat" book. I thought it was a clever idea. I may have to steal that one if I'm ever planning a baby shower again. :)




Katie gave each of us some of the party favors in case we wanted to save in our baby books. There are diapers in the Thing 2 display.




And of course, my little guy scored some more loot. He hasn't even arrived and he's spoiled already!

Baby Shower - Gifts & More

Rylee helped open all the gifts and she loved it.  She was oohing and ahhing over everything.  It was adorable!  She couldn't resist trying on this cool hat that Olivia bought for her lil bro.

 

A few of the ladies even bought presents for her too - lucky girl.  She got a big sister tshirt, a finger painting kit and some bunny ears.  :)



 

But nothing could compare to the haul the little guy made.  Here's a shot of all the clothes and goodies.  I think the "sprinkle" part of the shower got lost in translation somehow.  Either that or my friends are way too generous!  :)



 

After games and presents, it was time for some dessert.  Laura made this special fruit pizza for me - love it!  Venessa made carrot cake cupcakes and my Mom made some candy bar brownies.  (Oh and Rylee made white chocolate dipped pretzels with sugar sprinkles.  She was very impressed with herself.)  I'm on a low sodium diet so I stayed away from most of the appetizers, but I sampled all the desserts.  They were yummy!



 

Rylee was literally exhausted after the party.  She went into our bedroom and watched TV.  My Mom, Venessa, Pilar, Monica and Laura stayed to help clean up and ended up visiting for about another hour.  It was a fun way to unwind.  What a lovely day!

Baby Shower - Guests cont.

Rylee and I with most of my book club girls: Melinda, Marie, Lisa, Michelle, and Kristen.  Diane came later (with her adorable 8 month old daughter Sofia), but I didn't get a picture with them.  The only three who couldn't attend were Karen (her Mom was in town),

Kelly (she was out of town) and Jessica (she had a 4 day old baby at home!).

Somehow I also missed pics of Darlene (my Mom's neighbor) and Dominique (who came a little late).  A few of my other gal pals were unable to attend, but all in all we had a great turn out.

Baby Shower - The Decore

Venessa and my Mom decided to have the baby shower at my house.  My mom's place doesn't have enough guest parking and Venessa is getting married in less than a month so we didn't want to inconvenience her.  And since she lives right across the street from me, using our house worked out great.  Everyone got to see the nursery and the gifts didn't have to be lugged across the street after the party!  Here are some before party photos...

I must have forgotten to take a picture of the other table before the party.  I feel bad because my friend, Jessica, had made this cute "cupcake" gift out of blankets and onesies.  She gave it to me ahead of time since she just had her little boy, Oliver, this past week.  It was so adorable that I saved it and used it as a table centerpiece.  Anyway, this is actually from later in the party when we cleared the table to make room for the three desserts.  More on that later!

Sprinkle Shower

Today was my sprinkle shower, but as I joked after opening all the presents, it was more like a downpour than a sprinkle. The baby got so many cute things. Thank you everyone!

Rylee had a blast. She welcomed everyone at the door and showed them where to put the gifts and their purses. She helped me open all the presents and she was just as excited and animated about everything as I was. I love that about her! I like an enthusiastic gift opener. :)

The food and drinks were delicious. The games were fun. I think everyone had a good time. I can't wait to start going through the photos, hopefully tomorrow. Tonight, I'm going to rest (it's exhausting work opening all those gifts!) and show Jon all our loot.
