Last Day

July 10th - was Jon's last day.  I already mentioned that Jon and Rylee went fishing in the morning, then we spent the rest of the day on Serpent Lake with the cousins.

Not a lake shot, but here's Jace!

Jon and Rylee had fun in the water.  Rylee must have made her Dad catch her flying leap off the dock a hundred times.  Here's a more relaxed moment...

The kids went tubing again as well.

We said our goodbyes early so we could have a relaxing evening at my parent's house while enjoying our fish fry.  We were all sad to see Jon (&Rio) go the next morning, but it was a great visit!

Father/Daughter Fun

July 8th - was the beginning of Jon and Rylee's Father/Daughter bonding days.  They went fishing that morning (with Rylee's three foot princess pole, mind you) and caught quite a few keepers.  Rylee caught about a three pound bass and lots of sunfish.  Jon took some great shots on his phone, I'll try to upload them another time.  Jon and Jace spent the remainder of the day and evening at his Dad's, while Rylee and I swam off the pontoon with Gaga, Kathy and Lilly before heading off to Rylee's dance class.

July 9th - the weather was a little off that day so we ended up relaxing most of the day.  Lilly & Rylee watched movies in the cabin all day.  Then we met the cousin crew at a local bar for their taco Tuesday special.  Jon and Rylee continued their special fun with a sleepover in cabin #8.  They watched a movie, ate snacks, told stories and slept in the twin beds.  I thought they would end up back in the house at some point during the night, but they didn't show up until morning.  Rylee had such a wonderful night with her Dad.  It was all she could talk about!

July 10th - Jon and Rylee fished one more time in preparation for the night's fish fry.

Here are the triumphant anglers upon their return...

Rylee supervised the fish cleaning like a champ.

Pontoon Swim

July 5th - was a family work day here at our lake.  We all helped clean out the beach area which needed, and still needs, some serious TLC.  Then we cruised over to see the cousins and everyone for swim time and dinner.

July 6th - Jon's sister conned him into running a 5K in her place (she had tweaked her back earlier in the week) so it was an early start to the day for him.  He didn't do too bad considering he didn't train or have proper gear.  That afternoon and evening, we attended a party at Matt & Val's along with Pablo & Nicole and their kids.  It was a great time.  The kids had fun playing and I have finally found someone who cooks as much food as my Mom for a gathering.  Matt had a 12 lb turkey, about 8 pounds of pork loin, plus chicken wings and numerous sides - for 6 adults and a few kids!  It was delicious, but we didn't even put a dent into it.  :)

July 7th - we spent the day on Agate Lake.  It was our 1st pontoon swim of the season, if you can believe it!  The water was still pretty brisk, but we had fun.

Later that afternoon we visited with Big Grandpa Bob and that night we had a pizza party with the cousin crew.

Fourth of July

It was an unusual Fourth of July to say the least.  There was a bit of drama as to where we were going to watch the parade now that my Dad is retired.  We ended up back in front of his old office as always, but we didn't have all of our usual crowd (no cousins and no Megan & Max).  Rylee was still super excited for the parade.  She loves getting the candy even though 99% of it is tootsie rolls which she can't eat.  (How I wish that even one flavor of tootsie roll was made with soy, but I digress.)

Here's a couple of pictures of us before it all went south.

After two nights in a row of 11:30 bedtimes and an hour wait in the hot sun for the parade to even start, Rylee was beginning to lose it.  Then she got sunscreen in her eyes and it was game over.  Gaga and I had to take her home.  Jon, Jace and Papa stayed though and they had a great time!

Rylee was a little feverish from pure exhaustion so she spent the rest of the day in bed or on the couch.  We never made it out to the lake or to see the cousins - frown.  Luckily, she perked up in time for our bbq with the Mooers crew (plus Mark &Jan and Sara).  Jace went to bed, but Rylee managed to have enough energy to stay up for my Uncle Howard's epic fireworks display.  People on the lake are starting to count on him for their fireworks entertainment.  There was even a pontoon in the bay watching  Nothing says independence like illegal fireworks smuggled in from Wisconsin!

July Recap, Here We Go!

Sorry for another long blog break, but we were having a blast with Daddy and the cousins up here and then we needed some down time. Now we're ramping up for our vacation from our vacation. Yep, it's Cedar Crest time! Anywhoo, here comes the July recap.

July 2nd - was our first day at the lake with the cousins and Rylee's 1st tubing experience (sorry the pics are on my phone).  I decided to let both kids come to the airport to greet Daddy that night.  Between his plane arriving late and the general excitement at his arrival, it was a late night for the kiddos (just a little foreshadowing for another post).

July 3rd - another day at the lake with the cousins followed by Aunt Laurie's 40th birthday dinner.  Jace and I had to bail after that, but Rylee & Jon stayed late for some home blown fireworks (super late night #2 for Miss Rylee).
