Sept Recap - Rylee's Birthday

Rylee's birthday was on a Friday this year - always nice!  She woke up to us singing Happy Birthday to her (literally, she was fast asleep when we all started singing, it was funny) and then saw her spread of presents.

Jon's chiropractor is friends with pro golfer Lexi Thompson so he was able to get her two autographed pictures.

Fun Friday was Under the Sea day so Rylee wore the outfit that my co-teacher bought for her birthday (I love the mermaid leggings).

Rylee is on our Good Morning Sawgrass news program so they gave her a shout out for her birthday and her name was on the marquee.  We took some pics after school, but it was so bright that neither kid could hardly keep their eyes open!

That night we opened presents via Facetime with Gaga and Papa.  You can see them on the cell phone!  You gotta love technology sometimes.  :)

Here is all her loot.  :)

Since Rylee got her cell phone she is Pinterest obsessed so we made a cookie dough stuffed cupcake recipe that she had pinned.

Happy 11th birthday to the sweetest daughter ever!  Love you!

Sept Recap - Hurricane Legopalooza

Sept almost brought category 5 Dorian to our door.  We were lucky it missed us - unfortunately the Bahamas were devastated.  We put up the shutters (actually Pete and Ryan put the shutters up since Jon's knee wasn't the best - thanks guys!) and then waited to see what would happen over the Labor Day weekend...

Jace and Jon slipped out to birthday party Saturday night...

(Jace has Pikachu face paint.)

...while Rylee and I crafted.  We made these cute felt skate ornaments for Rylee's ice skating birthday party (more on that later).

Over the long weekend of waiting, the kids somehow convinced Jon to let us put together his old castle Legos.  He only looks slightly concerned... lol!

It was a family build.  I even  put together my first Lego kit. Although I've helped the kids over the years this was my first ever solo build!  :)

Our creation took up the better part of our dining room table...

...and that was only a portion of his castle Legos.  He wouldn't let us build them all.  :)

I can't believe I didn't play with Legos as a kid.  They are so fun!  We recently watched a "brickumentary" on Legos so I now know that I am an AFOL (adult fan of Lego), although Jon and the kids are still teaching me the correct terminology for all the pieces.

Although I should amend my statement to say building Legos is fun, taking them apart not so much.  We made the boys do that one day when Rylee and I were out shopping. :)

August Recap - School & the Rest

The first couple months of school have been busy ones - I'm finally getting around to catching up on the blog.

The weekend before school, I got us all tickets to Monster Jam.  Apparently when I picked out our seats, I got us the second row - who knew?!  You could choke on the exhaust and dust, but at least there was no complaining about not being able to see.  Lol!

I'm pretty sure we lounged by the pool on Sunday.  I know the kids were with Diane and the girls on Monday, but I don't remember what adventure they had.  Tuesday was sneak a peak and then the kids had a fun day with Jon.

Wednesday was the first day of school.  2nd grade for Jace, 5th for Rylee, and a move to 3rd grade for me.

Jace has the same 2nd grade teacher as Rylee and lots of friends from last year in his class.  Rylee loves 5th grade.  She has two teachers and switches half way through the day.  She and her bestie, Emily, are in the same class again.  K-5 together all the way.  They were so excited!

I'm still team teaching with Alexis, but we looped with our class to 3rd grade this year.  Here is our new team.  :)

The first week was short and pretty low key.  We celebrated on Friday by going to the museum with Susie.

Random August pics:

Rio had surgery to get some of her growths removed (I'll spare you the bloody details).  She had to wear a cone for a few weeks and had to be watched 24/7 the first weekend.  Rylee took her turn on babysitting duty watching Rio while she napped by the front door.  :)

Jace is obsessed with pokemon right now.  Here he is showing off his new pokemon shirt while playing pokemon with me.  :)

College spirit day was one of our first Fun Fridays.
Rylee wore her St. Thomas shirt in honor of Meg!

I sported my BSU tshirt.  :)

The rest of August was a busy blur.  :)
