February Recap - Papa's Bday

February was Papa's birthday.  The kids went all out in the card department this year.  Jace made a perler bead puzzle message that Papa had to unscramble.

Rylee made a complicated slide card.  This is what it looks like first...

and then when you slide it out, you see this:

The kids sure love their Papa.  He picks them up from school and helps them with their homework Monday - Thursday.  He and Jace even have a new routine.  On Wednesdays, Papa picks up Jace and they go shoot hoops or play at the park.  Then after I drop Rylee off at theater, Jace and I eat dinner at Gaga and Papa's.  Sometimes, Gaga even makes a carryout dinner for Rylee!  Jon usually golfs on Wednesday so he's happy to not have to cook for us all! Win-Win!

We love you Papa!  Thanks for all you do for us!

February Recap Part 1

February 1st was take your child to work day.  Rylee helped me in my classroom.  She's such a good helper and teacher.  The things she says when she's working with the kids are so spot on and perfect - it's kind of scary!  She would make an incredible teacher someday - not that she should go that route.  Lol!

Helping fold kite patterns with my co-teacher Alexis...

Helping me make a couple of solar ovens for the absent kids.

Jace started soccer in February.

He couldn't have been happier when he came home from his first game.  His team name is Gryffindor (from Harry Potter) and he won the first medal of the season for exemplifying the character traits of listening and following directions.  That's my boy!

He's really enjoying this beginner league.  He's learning the basic rules, getting lots of exercise, and working on being more aggressive.  Last week, he even scored two goals and blocked three as the goalie!  He's also doing Sports on the Court after school on Mondays, where they learn different sports and group games.  (Not sure if I mentioned that already or not.  Old age.  Lol!)

A blurry pic of Rylee getting her award for A/B honor roll.  This year's teacher is even harder to get straight As from than  last year's teacher.  I'm glad though - I don't want her to feel pressured to get straight A's.  She is still top of her class, she's an amazing hard worker, she loves to read and learn.  That's the most important thing to me!  You go girl!

Rylee's been into line dancing ever she took that after school class.  A local bar has family night on Sunday nights.  It's too late to go on a regular school night, but we've started going whenever we have a day off on Monday.  Rylee and I have gone a couple of nights by ourselves.  The night below we took Susie with us.  It's so much fun!  You would not believe how packed it is either!

The picture below was from when the kids stayed over night with my parents so Jon and I could go on a date night with my co-teacher, Alexis, and her husband.  We had dinner on the intercoastal and then rode the double-decker water taxi around for 2 hours looking at all the beautiful waterfront homes and restaurants.  I've always wanted to do that.  It's only taken me 19 years.  Lol!

Here are some shots of Rylee at her golf lessons.  She's really enjoying the 2nd session and looking forward to bringing her clubs to MN this summer.  She's hoping to get some pointers from Grandpa Chip and Connie!

Jace has been going to lots of fun birthday parties.  This one was at a laser tag place.  Later today we're going to a trampoline park.  :)

Jan Recap - The Rest

I found some more pics from the Daddy Daughter Dance on Jon's phone.

With Susie and Emily...

With Emily and Jada...

Jace is quite the reading machine.  He fell in love with the Magic Treehouse series this year. He started reading them in October and has read the first 39 books already!  He read this one in a day.  He made Gaga post about it on Facebook so he could be famous!

Jace also celebrated the 100th day in January.  We had to make a shirt - of course he wanted it Harry Potter themed.  There's 100 lightning bolts.  :)

Speaking of Jace, one day Gaga was teasing him about following in Rylee's impressive footsteps.  He didn't even miss a beat before answering: "anything she does, I'll do it this much better" (showing an inch between his fingers).  In case you didn't know it, Jace can be a bit competitive.  Lol!
