Catch Up 6 - Rylee's Awards Day

Rylee before Kindergarten Award's Day.

Her teacher held a performance in the classroom before the Awards's ceremony started.  The kids sang three songs.  "This is America to Me" was my favorite.  Each kid drew a picture to illustrate their part of the song.  Rylee's was "celebrating holidays."  On the back side of their paper, they also drew part of the American flag so when they all flipped them over it made a huge flag.  It was so sweet!

Rylee was also selected as one of the kids (from all the 8 classes) to recite a line in the alphabet poem.  As you can see, her letter was L.  "L is for learning and listening" or something like that!  :)

They honored 5 students in each class with awards.  Rylee won for Responsible Role Model.  She was very excited since this was her first medal!

The Specials teachers also honored one Kindergarten student for their overall achievement and Rylee won for Art.  We couldn't believe it!  That's like 1 out of about 160 students.  So proud of all Rylee accomplished in her Kindergarten year!

Catch Up 5 - More Misc

Rylee has been to her fair share of awesome parties, but Ava's First Communion party may be the fanciest.  It was in a mini ballroom with beautiful decorations, catered food, and DJ.

The kids had so much fun dancing and playing games.  It was like a wedding reception for kids!

Rylee also had two weeks of swimming field trips.  Her teacher snapped this pic for me.  She loved it.  She finally got to ride the bus!  Rylee's already a great swimmer so the swimming lessons were easy for her, but she had fun jumping off their diving board.

A couple cute pics of Jace too.  This one was from his birthday.  My big boy was heading off to school.  :)

And look at this cool dude!

Jace is just delicious!  I could literally eat him up.  I know I don't have the time to post as many stories and pics of Jace as I did of Rylee - second child and working mom means he gets the shaft.  Sorry buddy!  But here are a couple of things:

When he gets upset, he sticks his lower lip out so far.  It's truly the most impressive pout.
His favorite response is: Okay.
The less he wants to do something, the longer the o: OOOOO-kay.
At least he's still somewhat agreeable. :)

Catch Up 4 - Misc

A few misc cell phone pics...

One afternoon I was standing in the hallway waiting to talk to my principal (and no I wasn't in trouble!), when I noticed some 5 or 6 pieces of art work hanging on the wall.  They had been selected by our art teacher.  The piece right in front of me was Rylee's!  It was so beautiful!  And it ended up hanging there for almost 3 months.  It made me smile every time I walked by.  :)

Rylee's school (and Jace's for that matter) are uniform schools.  But at Rylee's school, every Friday is a theme day.  Here is a pic of Ry on Cowboy/Cowgirl Day.

Random sibling cuteness...

Speaking of Jace's school, below is a picture of his class.  Yes, 10 boys and 2 girls!  There must have been something in the water when these 3 year olds were conceived.  I taught 3 year old Pre-K this year and my class was boy heavy also (15 kids and only 4 girls).

In case you can't find him, he's back row on the left.

Below was the official "picture day" photo.  Notice how the giant bow on the girl in front of Jace looks exactly like he's wearing a bow tie!  I've never been a fan of the giant bow and now I have proof why.  Lol!

Catch Up 3 - Mermaid Rylee

Just a few pics of a mermaid birthday party that Rylee attended on one of the few times she wasn't sick! :)

Not the best picture of us (we both have our squint on), but at least I'm in front of the camera instead of behind it for once.

It was a pool party, but afterwards the girls got their faces painted and bedazzled!

Rylee won one of the games so she also got this pretty tiara.

Prettiest face paint ever.  The phone pictures don't really do it justice.  It was super sparkly,  You know I love me some bling and my girl does too!  :)

Catch Up 2 - Cursed!

We kept joking that Rylee was cursed this year. It all started when she got a bad urine infection and missed the fancy father/daughter dance at school (she spent the night at urgent care with me instead). Bummer!

The second illness caused her to miss her class field trip to the farm (and her first ride on a school bus). She was so disappointed. It seemed like a typical Monday morning. She got up, had breakfast, for ready for school etc. When I went to fix her hair though she felt a little hot. She had a a slight fever so I told her she'd have to stay home from school. I was helping Jace at the time so I wasn't really watching her... I just saw her flop down onto the carpet in he bedroom. I scolded her for being dramatic and then we walked into the living room to deliver the bad news to Jon as he was going to have to stay home with her.

Jon and I were standing facing each other and Rylee was in the middle looking at me when all of a sudden she fell backward, straight like a chopped tree... Timber!, and landed at Jon's feet. She had fainted in the bedroom and here too! We were lucky she didn't crack her head on the tile floor.

Jon took her to the ER and met them there after I split up my class at school. Thankfully all the tests came back normal.

She was (and is) such a good patient. She even helped with her blood draw. The guy let her attach the vials and everything. :)

She needed a follow up with a cardiologist and had to wear a heart monitor for a day, but those tests came back normal too.

The worst part of that was pulling off the tape the next day. She had marks on her chest and stomach the whole two weeks of swimming lessons. But she was still a trooper about it. She and Jon did it together.

The good news is she hasn't had any more fainting spells so we're chalking it up to some weird virus. Scared the crap out of us though!

The third time she was sick with a stomach bug and missed a friend's birthday party and we had to cancel a dinner party we were hosting the next night.

Rylee and I think there was a fourth time too, but we can't remember. Anyway, she's hoping for better timed illnesses next year- if there is such a thing! Lol!

Catch Up 1- Hair!

There were so many things I didn't get to blog about this year. You know, back to work full time, no parents around to babysit, no free time, yada yada! Anyway, I thought I'd look through my phone for some pics and stories that I didn't share...

...Like Jace's first professional haircut. We went with the Froyds since Miller and Mason needed haircuts too.

Yep, he knows he's a stud!

Afterward we all went to lunch at Tijuana Taxi. It was one of those impromptu fun days!

Rylee was bummed that she didn't get her hair cut that day so the next time Jace went in, she got a trim too.

We had to stop at Target to buy socks for Crazy Sock Day at school in case you're wondering about the photo location. :)

*This is a story from yesterday, but I didn't want to forget it. Rylee was talking about The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) from the Journey to Mysterious Island movie. He makes his pecks bounce in one scene and it's made a lasting impression on Rylee (she saw the movie last year!).

Rylee: how could someone even do that?
Me: well, it takes a lot of muscles.
Rylee: I hope Jace never learns to do that. It would just be weird. (Pause) But on that guy, it's awesome!

So true Rylee! So true! :)
