MN Summer Recap - Nancy

So my parents received this skeleton (Nancy) from their neighbors (outfit included).  My parents had put her out as a joke for the kids when we arrived.  Then we started taking turns hiding her around the resort and sending pictures to Jon (because he thought it was completely stupid and annoying which made it even more fun!).

Later, we gave her an outfit upgrade and
sat her on the hill waving to the holiday traffic.

Apparently some people, unlike Jon,
thought it was funny and she made the paper!  Lol.

Of course, Nancy had to give Jon a special welcome
when he came to visit too.

Recap: June Part 3

If Papa is busy, we usually don't take the pontoon out by ourselves.  The kids will just paddle out past the weeds on the paddle board.  Sometimes they pull a tube or even me on the lilypad!

You have to be careful if someone jumps off...

...cuz you might go over too!

As they say, turnabout is fair play...

I love watching these goofballs have fun on the lake!

Minnesota kids at heart!

Recap: June Part 2

The kids love spending time on the water.  Papa and I took them out every day that was nice (which was a lot since we were in a serious drought).

We invited Sara over for dinner and a pontoon ride one night.  It's nice to have a new motor on the pontoon that starts and runs quietly!

The first couple of weeks, we had so much fun watching the momma fox and her three pups.  They would run and play all up and down in front of our house every morning and evening.  It was so cute.  Rylee took some nice photos too.

Rylee and Jace gave Papa the special Father's Day treatment.  They made him some really nice cards (but I must not have taken pictures) and Rylee made the same dinner she made for Jon.

The kids hung out with Grandpa Chip the day after Father's Day.
He and Jace played chess.

Grandpa and Rylee had a jam session.
Him on the guitar and her on the ukulele.

Grandpa Chip and Connie also took Rylee golfing.
They went at least once a week the whole summer.

Rylee also got her Covid shot in MN.
We went out for coffee and a smoothie at Mixed Company afterward.

Recap: June Part 1

It finally occurred to us to celebrate Father's Day early for Jon.  (He usually misses out since we are already in MN.)  Rylee took charge making Jon tater tot casserole for lunch (she'd always wanted to try it), mini meatloafs, green beans, and homemade fries for dinner, and gourmet chocolate rice krispie treats for dessert.  She is getting to be one "good cooker" (to borrow a phrase from my parents Canadian neighbor).

The kids also made Jon special cards and homemade gifts.
Rylee used stop motion to make this card animated and with sounds.
I wish I could show you the video.
(Thanks to Mason for showing her and Jace how to do stop motion).

She made Jon this cute picture frame out of golf tees and some chili lime roasted peanuts.

Jace made Jon a golf-inspired card.

We also hung out by the pool and tried out the new boogie board.

Jon had a great day and enjoyed being spoiled for once!

The following week, we flew to MN.  But before we left, Jon made us crab legs!

It was great to see Gaga and Papa (and Gypsy) after a year of missing them.

The kids immediately started crossing things off their summer bucket list:

Pontoon rides!

Slack lining!

Hair cuts!
Rylee's hair hadn't been cut since last summer so Gaga cut off a lot -
it was down towards the bottom of her shoulders blades before!

Playing on the lilypad
(best purchase ever)!

To be continued...
