Feb Recap - Carnival

Rylee's school put on a black history month show that celebrated people from the Caribbean and was Carnival themed.  Rylee gave up her recess time for a month to practice the two dances she was in.  They had two school performances and one night performance for the parents.  I took mostly videos, but I have a few pics to share.

Her carnival costume:

Maria and Emily were emcees.

Rylee was a flag presenter.

Before one of her dances: Rihanna's "We Found Love."
She's in the middle.

After the show with Emily...

...and Maria...

..and Alani (who came to watch).

The next day was Twin Day at school
so my co-teacher and I were twinning.  :)

I got to watch Rylee again since my class was there.  :)

The last thing we did in Feb. was celebrate my Dad's birthday.
Rylee made Papa a tie blanket too.  :)

February out!

Feb Recap - Panther Prowl

Rylee is really into making tie blankets this year.  She already made one for Emily's birthday, and as a Christmas present for Connie.  Here she is making one for her friend Maria's birthday.

It's been a crazy couple of months for my parents.  My mom got a horrible infection in her knee which took over a month to properly diagnose.  We were staying away because we were so sick and didn't want to pass anything on to her.  The only way we could help was by babysitting Gypsy on occasion. Luckily, the kids love helping out in this way.  (Actually, Rylee had to babysit Gaga on two occassions where Papa had to be away too!)

*Present day update: My mom had surgery just a few days ago to clean out the infection.  Now she has a month's worth of IV antibiotics to get through.  They put in a picc line so she can receive the treatments at home.  She hasn't walked since Jan 29!  She is hobbling around a bit now though so hopefully she is on the road to recovery.  A total knee replacement is in her future they say, but probably not for a year since they really want to make sure the infection is long gone.  Love you Mom!  You're a trooper!  Hang in there!*

Maria's party was at an iPic theater where you watch a movie and eat all from your seat.  They saw a retro showing of "Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban."  Rylee declared it "the fanciest movie theater EVER."

Funny Valentine's message from Jace.  We always joke that Rio is "still alive!" like that quote from The Croods movie so we all cracked up when we saw that it made the card.  Also, love the detailed picture.  I'm taller than Jon and he's wearing a "hole in one" shirt!  So sweet!

February was also the Panther Prowl which Jon didn't run for the first time ever so Rylee and Jace both ran by themselves.  I was out there with my class during Jace's race so I did see Jace at the start and finish.  :)

Jace beat his time from last year which was his goal.  :)

Rylee and her besties going on a field trip!

Jace played soccer again this winter season.  This was the week he won the medal for "energetic."  He took a soccer ball to "his goodies" as he says.  He staggered and fell to the ground.  It was hysterical!  He got up and started to run to us on the sideline, but after a few steps, gave us the thumbs up and kept on playing.  Tons of kids had gotten hurt in that game, but Jace was the only one to play through the pain (lol!) so that's why he got the medal.  We only wished we had the video to submit to AFV!

Feb Recap - Candytopia

In early Feb, we attended Rylee's awards ceremony.  My pics look horribly blurry, sorry, zooming in from too far back.  First, Rylee made the honor roll again (no shocker there).

Then she got a special area award from the STEAM teacher.  They choose one kid per quarter.
Rylee had been helping her for the past few weeks getting the kindergartners logged in on the computers.  Ms. Moss couldn't say enough nice things about Rylee and her demeanor with the kids.  She would be an awesome teacher someday if that is the road she chooses.  (She's doing so awesome on the school's morning show, however, that everyone is telling her to go for broadcast journalism instead.)

With the rest of the kids that were chosen by our Specials teachers.

Before the Coronavirus hit, we were able to get in some fun events too.  Like...

If you're not familiar with it, it's a candy-themed art display.  It only takes about an hour to go through so it's a little pricey, but fun for a one time splurge.  Everything is made out of candy so it's pretty impressive...

My fave...

The kids loved this room where confetti rained and swirled around.

Ocean themed room...

Monkeys are Rylee's favorite animal
and her patronus animal (if you're a Harry Potter fan).

Jace liked the gila monster best.

They both loved this room best,
where you got to play in the "marshmallow pit."

It's always fun to bury your brother,
even if it is slightly against his will!

Check it out if it's in your area!

Another STEAM victory for Rylee.
Ms. Moss sent me a pic since she was the first person to get her circuits lit up.  :)

Lastly, a random Dunkin' Donuts Friday
Now that my kiddos can have milk products, donuts are their favorite treat.
They're making up for lost time!  Lol!

After months of sampling, Jace has decided that the powdered donut is his fave...

...and Rylee prefers the Boston creme!
