Another 1st

Rylee got her first haircut yesterday. Don't fret, I didn't chop off the mullet. I secretly love it too much to do that! Gaga just gave it a little trim to even up some uneven growth.

I didn't take a picture, but I did save the little curls (all two of them). Not sure why, I guess just because it's tradition.

Jon gets in tonight so the next week will be extra busy. Not sure if I'll get much posting in. And then it's back to FL already!

Tinkle

Rylee had her first tinkle in the potty today. :)

Potty training is still a ways off, but it was cute to see how proud she was of her "accomplishment."
Here she is giving herself a little clap.

Sophisticated

Since kids always seem to get the worst traits from each parent, I'm sure Rylee is destined to wear glasses. Luckily she likes to wear glasses anyway...

...and they make her look more mature! :)

Maybe too mature? In this one it looks like she's wearing bifocals by the way she's holding the phone at arm's length!

Crosslake Trip

Today we made our summer trip up to Crosslake. We skipped Rafferty's (since I've already eaten it twice this week - three times if you count leftovers!) and went to Zorbaz instead. We didn't order their pizza though, we got macho nachos. Thanks, Chels, for the recommendation - they are the best nachos ever!

I also worked in a stop at my favorite gift shop and made my yearly Barbie doll dress purchase. The dress is plain but come with a cool scarf/shawl thing.

I can't wait till Rylee gets to Barbie doll stage. :)

TGIF everyone!

Lazy

I'm starting to hate texting my blog from this phone. It's time consuming and I'm always making mistakes. Argh!

Anyway, we've had some fun days here. Rylee's cousins arrived so she's been enjoying playing with them. I took some cute pics but haven't had the Internet connection to post them yet. I keep forgetting to snap some pics with the cell phone camera. Again, argh!

I do have one funny, non-grumpy story to relate. :) A week or so ago, I woke Rylee up from a late nap and told her that Papa was already home from work. She was sitting in the pack n play and all of a sudden she started to sing song a little cha-cha beat: "papa done work.". Her little arm movements matched and everything. It was so out of the blue and so cute!

She sings it every night now when my dad comes home. Maybe I can get video of it some day, I'm not really doing it justice!

In other news, Jon will be here in a week - yeah! Rylee and I have sure been missing him.

That's all. My fingers are cramping...

Lisa's Farm

A week or so ago, I took Rylee to my cousin's farm. She loved it - especially the horses. She also played with a friend on the trampoline. What a day! It's been so long since I uploaded these photos that I don't remember what they are, but I'm sure they're cute! :)

Happy Father's Day!

Blogger was not cooperating with me tonight so the cute Father's Day video Rylee made for her Daddy won't be shown here. I did manage to get it up on Facebook though so I'll have to be satisfied with that.

Jon, thanks for being a wonderful husband and father (not to mention chef, landscaper, garbage collector and spider killer). Rylee and I love you and miss you. See you soon...

Happy Father's Day to my Dad too - the nicest, hardest working, most sacrificing Dad I know. You are truly the best.

Rylee is treasuring this time with her Papa. Here are a few pics of them hanging out: dancing (something they both love) and watching Handy Manny (Rylee has turned Papa into a huge fan and I'm not being sarcastic!)

Happy Father's Day to all you great Dad's out there!

Photo Shoot :)

Rylee had so much fun (and looked so cute) sitting on this truck that I couldn't help but take like 20 pictures. Lucky for you, Picasa only let's me post four!

Crazy Dayz

It's been a crazy couple of days here. Last night we spent two hours in the back room of my Dad's office due to tornado warnings. We were lucky and the storm passed us by. Some neighboring towns got hammered though - high winds and softball sized hail.

Even more bizarre was the happenings on Wed. A high speed chase somehow ended at my grandparent's resort property. When I say ended, I mean car launched into the lake ended. We missed that and the resulting arrest by about ten minutes, but I did watch them pull the car out of the lake today.

I'm not sure what the odds are that a high speed chase ends on your property, but the ironic thing is, years ago, a chase ended next door to Jon's house and the cops apprehended the suspect on their front lawn. Weird!

Anyway, here are some silly pics from Paul Bunyan. TGIF!

I have a similar photo from this same jail. I wish I had my scanner to put it in the blog. :)

The Rides

Rylee mostly rode the carousel, but she found other fun things to play on too. Here she is with Kermit the Frog. Bet you didn't know he and Paul were friends!

Rylee looks pretty comfortable in this convertible. I remember riding these cars myself.

Here we are on the train (that was, and still is, my favorite ride).

This isn't a great picture, but I wanted to prove to you that we weren't the only people there. Though it did feel like we had the place to ourselves!

Paul Bunyan

I mentioned we went to Paul Bunyanland last weekend. This is the first time I've been there since they moved it from its original location. It didn't quite live up to my childhood memories, but Rylee still had fun.

Paul was, of course, very excited to see her. He liked the fact that she had traveled all the way from Florida just to meet him. He even joked that it was more impressive than the kids who came from Crosslake right after her. Not sure their parents loved that! It was difficult to get a good picture of us all - Paul was blinking in many of the shots. :)

Rylee's favorite thing to do was ride the carousel - big shocker there!

All in all, it was a fun time... a little expensive, but fun. :)

Recap

Fun days: Sunday we took Rylee to Paul Bunyan but I've been waiting to post about it until I can upload the pics too. Then Monday Rylee got to go to my cousin Lisa's farm. She got to pet and feed the horses and the donkey. What fun!

Sick days: Tuesday Rylee came down with a mild fever and runny nose. This canceled some fun plans like the day with Grandpa Chip and Grandpa Sandy and a girls night out for me - such is life.

Rainy days: Its been raining for days, but we've still managed to have some fun. Rylee and I met my cousin's daughter, Lexi, for the first time. She's ten weeks old and super sweet! Rylee also got her first taste of Rafferty's pizza. They made it special with her cheese - yum!

Silly Things...

...Rylee has said lately.

At McDonalds:
"e i e i o" (I'm sure all kids make the Old Macdonald / McDonalds mistake, but it was too funny.)

after playing with her happy meal toy for one second - a cheap toy phone that doesn't make any sounds - "oops batteries dead"

New favorite phrase:
"uh oh what happened?"

She can use this in a million different ways. Today when I put her down for her nap I could hear her on the monitor saying "uh oh blankie, what happened?"

She had dropped it outside her crib. After I gave it back to her she said, "blankie, what happened? I hold you."

Too cute!

Tired

The wedding trip was great. I'll fill you in on details later. I'm going on only 4 hours sleep so I'm heading to bed early.

Rylee had a nice time. It was a lot of driving, but luckily she didn't seem to mind.

Heading Out

Rylee, GaGa and I are heading out to Fargo tomorrow for a friend's wedding. I'm hoping my decision to take Rylee won't come back to bite me... :)

Have a great weekend everyone.

Bounce House

GaGa did some garage-saling before we arrived to get the necessities for Rylee: toys, books, bounce house!

It's fabulous and Rylee loves it of course. Here are some action shots of her jumping.
