May - Play

Rylee decided to join a community theater group this year.  They met once a week all school year long and put on a version of Beauty & the Beast.  They asked us not to take photos or video during the performance (as they were making us all a DVD) so I only have a couple of blurry shots from the curtain call.  Sorry!

Anyway, Rylee did amazing!  She played two parts.  She was one of the "silly girls" that loved Gaston (or Bruno as he was called in their version) and she was Florence the flower seller.  Rylee and another girl were also featured dancers during the song "Be Our Guest."  Cute!

They performed on the city's civic center stage which was really neat.

With the cast and directors...

Gaga, Papa, Jon, Jace and I were all able to attend,
along with Rylee's kindergarten and 1st grade teachers.

*I told Rylee she couldn't ask her current year teacher (one of my friends on the second grade team). We didn't even tell her when the performance was.  When she saw all the pictures my Mom posted on FB, she pretended she was offended and teased Rylee all the next day!  :)

What a beauty!

With Gaga and Papa...

A pic with me...

The pics with Jon and Jace must not be on my phone, grrrr!

So proud of you, Rylee!

May - Jace's First...

Jace had his first research project for school.  He was assigned sharks.
It was so cute (or should I say fierce?) that I had to share.

Jace even brought in some super cool shark's teeth that
Jon found scuba diving on the other coast too.

So there's no grade, but it sounds like an A+ to me.  :)

April - Jace's Carnival

Jace's carnival is a great event.  Jace loves it!  Lots of rides, food and fun.

Dancing to the DJ.  The video is hilarious.  Wish I could post that!

One of the 50 times Jace rode the roller coaster.

Wheeeeee!

He rode everything and we stayed until they shut the last ride down.
(Jon even surprised us by showing up over his lunch break).

That night we celebrated Gaga's birthday too, but I'm really bad at taking family pictures.  :(

And here's a random pic of Rylee and Jace hiding out from a storm.  Lol!

April Recap - Misc

Rylee and Josephine (the day before Twins day,
but they were twinning it up a bit anyway)...

Rylee and Emily on actual Twins Day...

With their friend, Madden...

We also had the Autism Walk/Run that afternoon.

I took a rare day off towards the end of April.  I still came into school (but as a parent) with Jon to play the board game Rylee created in class.  It was amazing!  It was based off the book "Night of the Twisters."  She created the game board and all the positive and negative statement cards (based on details from the book).

After the game/ breakfast ended, I went to Jace's school for his annual carnival.  More on that in a later post.  :)

April Recap - Easter

So either I really didn't take any pictures on my regular camera this year or I downloaded them on my computer at home where I can't access them (all summer).  Doh!  I guess I'll blog along with my phone pics and hope I'm not missing any treasures at home.

We finished off Spring Break with Easter.

Egg dyeing...

Rylee and Jace feel like the Easter Bunny doesn't get as much fanfare
as Santa Claus so they left him (it?) snacks and pictures...

 ...before they went to bed.

The next morning the hunted for eggs and their baskets.  Jace got Legos!

Rylee got a new mermaid tail!

Papa, Gaga, and I took Rylee and Jace swimming at the condo's heated pool while Jon did some golfing at the condo's course.  We all love the condo's amenities!  :)

We decided to go non-traditional with dinner so Jon and Gaga made a seafood feast with crab cakes, shrimp and lobster tails.  Unfortunately, Gaga wasn't feeling well so she left right before dinner.  The rest of us  thoroughly enjoyed it though!

April Recap - Spring Break

Rylee raised enough money during the Jump Rope for Heart campaign that she got to slime Coach.
She was getting a little coaching from the Asst. Principal while she poured.  :)

Slime is fun!

Then we went into our Spring Break.  Rylee kicked off her week with a sleepover with Kenzie.  They did crafts (headbands and perler beads)...

...and cupcake decorating (Jace too).

They stayed up late, watched movies, and played.  Always a good time!

The rest of our Spring Break was spent with Gaga and Papa playing,
swimming in the heated pools, and going bowling.

The kids even had their first sleep over at Gaga and Papa's new condo
so Jon and I could have a date night.  :)

April Recap - Fools and Pirates

April started off with an April Fool's prank from Rylee's teacher, Mrs. Norton (see "moved to red" comment in her school planner).

I didn't fall for this at all since I know Rylee has never even had her clip dropped, but I helped Rylee pull one over on her Dad.  I told him that I didn't think Rylee should go to Oliver's birthday party because of what happened at school and made her take her planner to show him.  He actually started to get upset and was demanding to know what happened when the rest of us burst out laughing!  :)

So luckily we all got to go to Oliver's party cause it was a party you wouldn't want to miss - a pirate themed boat ride through the inter-coastal!

A rare pic of the 4 of us - I had to include that.
(Jon was sporting a beard for a few months per Rylee's ridiculous request.)

The kids got "piratized" and...

...tattooed before heading out to sea.

Swashbucklin' Jace

Manning the water cannons while they battled another pirate.

Argh!

After the party, we walked the kids across to the beach since Rylee hasn't been in years and Jace has never been.  I know!  But I hate the beach... and the ocean... and I have a pool in my back yard.  What can I say?!

Oh yeah, I hate Disney World too.  So there!

March Recap - the rest

Rylee was invited to a movie birthday party for her friend, Kenzie, so she and I got to see the new live-action Beauty & the Beast.  We loved it!

Rylee was big into Beauty & the Beast this year since that was also the play she was in (more on that in a future post) and she adores Emma Watson (and does a good impersonation of her too!).

March also brought the sale of my parent's townhouse.  The kids were sad to see the townhouse go.  They had a lot of great memories there - sleepovers, sewing projects, cooking lessons.  They made me take pictures of them all over the house to say goodbye.

This was the spot they said they were going to miss the most: the landing at the top of the stairs.  They always used this spot as their hideout and loved being able to touch the ceiling of the dining room.  Lol!

March also brought Rylee's art show at school.  Here she is with her bestie, Emily, displaying their artwork.

We bought her framed art for Gaga and Papa's new condo.  P.S. Although the kids miss the townhouse, they love the new condo complex.  There are 18 heated pools (both indoor and outdoor).  They had so much fun swimming with Papa this Spring!

Last pic of March was Rylee's spring Fun Friday outfit.  :)
