January was a whirlwind!
#1 We enjoyed Serbian Christmas in a very international way. First, we played the dreidel game with a dreidel from Israel. A teacher from school bought it for the kids when she traveled there over break. We didn't know this, but dreidel's from inside Israel are different than dreidel's from outside because one of the symbols changes: it either says "a great miracle happened here" or "a great miracle happened there."
The kids also used their new pencil toppers from Australia (also bought by a teacher who traveled there over break). He got out right before the devastating fires. :(
**Rylee found the coin in the bread (a Serbian Christmas tradition) AGAIN in case anyone is keeping track.
#2 We cheered hard for the Vikings, but to no avail. No shocker there!
#3 Have I mentioned that we now live next to a wolf, a coyote, and two foxes? In the beginning it was rough, since they like to howl at animals and sirens (it doesn't help that we live adjacent to the fire department!), but they aren't waking me up 5 times a night anymore so they are growing on me.
#4 Jace and Papa got their haircut and Jace met his first "manlady."
That sparked a good conversation.
#5 Rylee had a shadow day at a middle school that she actually liked (thank goodness).
She was later accepted into their magnate program. Congrats Rylee!
#6 More skateboarding...
...and skootering!
#7 Jace fell for Rylee's trick AGAIN ("just let me look at it") and she pulled out another one of his teeth - much to Jon's dismay. He has yet to pull any of our kid's teeth and he's starting to get a complex about it!
#8 The kids and I went to Jurassic Park Live.
It was really good actually - we were impressed!
And that was where January fun ended. Rylee got the flu (or some nasty virus), then Jace, then me. It was brutal, especially for Jace and I since we had a horrible cough that just wouldn't go away. It was two weeks of misery!
