Again!

FL's hot, humid weather must be the perfect petri dish for yuckiness right now because Rylee is sick - again! This time it's a bad head cold: slight fever, non-stop runny nose, mucus-y sounding cough. Poor thing. :(

We had to cancel a playdate with Karen and Baby James - again! They're going to think we really don't want to see them.

To make matters worse, I decided to play "cabin 10 to cabin 7 to cabin 4" with my upstairs - again! The loft which was an office, then was Rylee's play area, then was an office, is back to a play area. I'm really happy with the move, but it prompted me to also clean out all the closets upstairs.

Between taking care of a cranky kid and using every spare moment to give my upstairs a thorough purging, I am exhausted and without time for blogging - again!

Wannado City

My mommy group had an outing at Wannado City yesterday. Even though it is geared for older children, the under 2 crowd still had a great time. And they get in free so it was an inexpensive great time. :)

Rylee loved the "carnival" area. She was big enough to ride the carousel (her fave), a mini viking ship, and a train ride.

Here she is working the cash register at "Publix."

She loved scanning the items and pushing all the buttons. She even made $20 wannado bucks for her effort. That's two extra carousel rides!

Of course we had to refuel at Johnny Rockets while we we there too. French fry, anyone?

I can't wait to go back. The circus was closed so we have to see what that was all about. I only wish I would have known about it sooner. Rylee will be 2 in just a couple of weeks and then she loses her "free" status. :(

Catch Up

I've been behind on blogging lately (plus really behind due to all my recaps) so there are a few things I need to catch up on.

I came across this cute pic from the Crow Wing County Fair (our last night in MN) on my old camera. It missed the recap I did, but I thought I'd post it anyway. There's no such thing as too many carousel shots, is there?

I'm not sure I can remember all the fun things Rylee and I have been doing since we got back to FL (and I'm too lazy to check what I did and didn't blog about already), but here is a quick list. :)

- Norah's 1st birthday party
- playdate at the mall with Norah, James & Caitlin (their Mommies too)
- Chick Fil-A playdate with my Mommies group
- pool day with Jess & Norah
- another Chick Fil-A playdate with Ava & Kaila (Olivia & Gaga too)
- Monster Jam with Miller (I blogged about this already)
- pool day with Miller & Norah at Miller's new pad :)

That's just off the top of my head. I hope I didn't forget anything. It's hard to remember - Rylee has a full social calendar it seems. :) I'll try to be better going forward...

Rylee's Thinkin'

Today when I got Rylee up from her nap, she wanted to know about the pictures on her crib sheet. She would point to something and I would tell her what it was.

After she pointed to the letter "b" and then the letter "d", she looked up at me kind of perplexed.

I said: "The letter b and d look the same. One is just turned the other direction."

She thought this over for a second and said: "Goofy!"

I just love her thinkin' sometimes. :)

Monster Jam

Since I forgot to bring my camera on today's excursion, you'll have to forgive my grainy cell phone pics. :)

Jon and I took Rylee to Monster Jam this afternoon with our friends, Ryan & Erin, and their son, Miller. We were somewhat worried about how it would go since we knew it would be loud and worse yet - during her naptime! But overall, it went great and Rylee really seemed to have fun.

Getting there was a bit of a nightmare since we're too cheap to pay the $20 parking fee when we practically live next door. Jon dropped us off but by the time we walked up and across the street we were all drenched. Damn that Florida heat and humidity! The thirty minute wait in line with the sun beating down on us didn't help the situation either. :)

We walked through the pit area for a while and saw the trucks up close. They are big!

Then we picnicked in the hallway (for a mere $40 - the pricing is truly outrageous) while they set up the track.

Rylee about jumped out of her skin the first time the trucks roared over the cars, but she loved it. (We were in the front row of our section so she could stand up and watch.)

She especially loved wearing her headphones. She wouldn't take them off even when we went to the bathroom for intermission.

She watched the whole show with interest. She did get a little tired at the end and stretched out on Daddy's lap for a bit.

The only time she fussed was when we snuck out a little early. She cried because she didn't want to leave! I guess that means it was a fun day. :)

Stats

Rylee had her 23 month checkup yesterday. She was sooo cute!

- She sat on the chair in the waiting room and played with Baby Elsie - very grown up.

- She asked the nurse for a tongue depressor ("Rylee have that?") about 1 second after she walked in the room. The nurse gave her one for being so good during her part of the checkup.

- She got a very concerned look on her face when she heard the other kids crying. You should have seen her little furrowed brow worrying over their "boo boo."

- She got a little shy when Dr. M (the male doctor) came in but she recovered and found her voice so she could say "hi Dr. M" after about a minute. For Rylee, that's a super quick warm up.

- She didn't squirm or fuss during his exam at all. He gave her another tongue depressor. That's how we measure appointments right now: it was a two tongue depressor checkup!

- She did cry from her shots but only for a minute. She didn't milk it.

- The funniest part was that she refused to put her pants on over her "pretty stickers" so we had to walk out of the office in only her diaper. They were silver and sparkly - what are you gonna do?! :)

Her stats:

Height: 34 3/4 in (80th percentile)
Weight: 26 lbs (50th percentile)

And even though her head looks ginormous, it measured in at the 50th percentile too. :)

I have to find some time for blogging so I can write about the other cute things Rylee has been doing and saying lately. She has turned into quite the sweetheart. I wish I could video tape her all day - I keep missing cute stuff!

MN Recap Week 10

Tues Jul 27: My Mom and Dad took a day trip with their friends* so Rylee and I hit the community pool in the morning and had dinner with Greg & Sara

*While away, my parents and their friends checked out the resort our families went to together for years. It hadn't changed much, in a good way, and since we've all been talking about a reunion trip for years now, they made the reservations. We're all booked for a week next summer. Stay tuned for "Cedar Crest: The Next Generation" hitting the blogosphere in July 2011! :)

Wed Jul 28: attended our last story hour (a musical duo), spent the day with Heather and her kids (park play and Dairy Queen picnic) planning and making lists for our resort trip already!, left Rylee home with Papa so we could go to the movie with them too: Ramona & Beezus

Thurs Jul 29: playdate at Chelsie & Baby Louie's house, met the Taleen family (my Dad's Aunt & cousins) up at their cabin in Emily for dinner and an evening swim

Rylee fell in love with the little playhouse that was made to look like the rest of the cabins...

Fri Jul 30: Kathy & Lilly drove down from Duluth for one last day with Rylee (aahh): shopping in Nisswa, lunch at the A&W (nothing tastes better than A&W root beer in a frosty mug!), and Slovenian music in the park (saw a lot of "ich's" - if you're a "bohunk" you'll know what I'm talking about) :)

Sat Jul 31: Rylee and I spent the day with my Dad - community pool, goodbye visit with Great Grandma Signe, one more Rafferty's pizza

Sun Aug 1: Rylee's 1st Grease 2 viewing (if I'd known we'd have to watch it 10 times a day since I might have skipped it!), my Dad and I worked in the garage to put all of Rylee's toys away till next year, he punctured his head on a rusty attic nail!, and Angel woke up in the middle of the night puking blood, all things you'd rather not have three days prior to travel :(

Mon Aug 2: Grandma Sandy and Grandpa Chip babysat all day so I could pack and they could have some more Rylee time

Tues Aug 3: goodbye to Big Grandpa Bob, one last MN summer tradition: the Crow Wing County Fair!

Wed Aug 4: another sucky day of travel (getting up at 4 am, having the plane changed and all our seats reassigned so even Rylee and I weren't together - as if that was going to work!, finally all sitting together after paying someone $20 bucks to trade their seat)

THAT'S ALL FOLKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
