Yesterday turned out to be a great day after all. I accomplished absolutely nothing productive (other than vacuuming) which means today won't exactly be a day of rest (more like a cram session of lesson plans, paper grading, laundry and bill paying), but sometimes those lazy days are necessary.
Venessa and I splurged countless calories on comfort food for lunch, shopped the sales at Dillard's, and by the grace of God had a breeze of a time picking up our neighbor at the airport (only two loops through the circle and viola!). After returning home, we lounged in front of her beautiful flat screen TV and literally laughed our butts off watching Knocked Up. I'm sure I burned enough calories laughing to make up for lunch!
Since we were both surviving on less than 5 hours sleep, I headed back to my house after the movie. I had the urge to get the last of my Netflix viewed and mailed, so I stayed up and watched Flushed Away. Silly, but that helps make me feel like I accomplished something yesterday: watched Netflix, check.
Then the best part: it stormed something fierce here last night which meant Rio was too scared (sorry girl) to think about being protective and never barked once. Ahh, blissful sleep...

"Sorry For Myself" Saturday
I think the above is an appropriate label for today. Please excuse this post!
I'm not sure if it's because Rio barked incessantly until 2 am last night... or because my hubby and homies are camping and partying it up in the Keys without me (also Rio's fault)... or because I have a splitting headache and absolutely no pain relieving medication in the house... or... well, the list goes on, but I'll spare you the rest. Suffice it to say, I am not my sunshine-y self this morning.
I want to crawl back under the covers, get lost in a book or a movie, and forget about all the things I have to do today. I have to get some school work done, get showered, and drive to Miami to pick up my neighbor who is coming in from Curacao. Thankfully, my other neighbor and BFF Venessa, is accompanying me on my excursion (and driving, but she doesn't know that part yet. Sorry Venessa, Jon took my SUV.) If anyone can lift me from my funk, it's her. She's also promised a viewing of Knocked Up later and we all know laughter is the best medicine. I think a small ray of sunshine is starting to peek through the clouds...

Jim + Pam 4 Ever
Oh, the return of the The Office… and actual out loud laughter… and liquids shooting out my nose… how I have missed you over the summer hiatus!
Just in case you missed it, here’s a brief recap (spoiler alert!): Jim and Pam are finally together; Michael ran down Meredith with his car – whoops!; Dwight mercy killed his girl friend’s cat, Sprinkles; and anger management Andy suffered the horrors of nipple chaffing.
But the show isn’t all hijinks. The writing team is also willing to tackle the tough issues in an attempt to raise the social consciousness of its viewers. Their awareness raising rabies storyline brought the nearly eradicated disease some much needed attention last night. I only wish I really could donate to Michael Scott’s Dunder Mifflin Scranton Meredith Palmer Memorial Celebrity Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race For The Cure (MSDMSMPMCRAPAFRRFTC).
For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, well I feel sorry for you, but know that for this affliction there too is a cure. I believe reruns are now being run on TBS or TNT or USA or… I can’t do everything for you, look it up!

Peek Into My Drawers
They say you can tell a lot about a person by looking through their garbage… or their mail… or their drawers. Apparently you can tell a lot about a person by spying on them (no wonder stalkers are so successful). I was wondering what a person would think about me if they opened the drawer to my nightstand.
First, one would see my fabulous watch collection. I have approximately 25 watches – ok, 29! - all hand made by my very talented mother. I adore them and select a different one to wear each day that coordinates with my outfit. “Sparkly, I gotta have the sparkly!” (Sadly, after reading my Mom's post, beading is out as her fave hobby and embroidery is in. Mom, I'll be expecting some monogrammed towels for Christmas.)
After taking in row upon row of beaded watches organized and categorized by color, one would then see a Beretta M9 (9mm) hand gun. Its cold black metal definitely contrasts with all the sparkly. I’ve never shot it, but I do know how to release the safety, cock it back, and engage the 15 round clip. So I guess I hope my nightstand says, my husband is a gun-toting badass – stalkers everywhere beware!

Bubblemania
Can't type...fingers cramping...eyes crossing...wrist twitching.
Five hours of "bubbling"standardized tests down, three hours to go. I'm really beginning to hate circles. Squares, you are my new favorite shape.

To Gym or Not to Gym
That is the question. I have made excuses again as to why I cannot make it to the gym tonight (I have meetings after school, I have meeting minutes to type, I feel like I’m coming down with a cough). It was that last one that saved me – who wants to get into the pool when you’re on the verge of getting sick? It sounds irresponsible to me.
This makes almost three months that I have not used my gym membership. (In fairness to me, I was out of state for the month of July and knew I wouldn’t use the gym in August with back to school insanity, but what about September? I told myself by Labor Day I would get back into going, but something always came up. (Like today, blogging for instance. I rationalize: very important, your fingers need exercise too!)
Now I’m facing the reality: go back to the gym or cancel my membership. If only gym memberships were more like Netflix accounts: you could get the unlimited package with elliptical machines and weight lifting and personal trainers or you could get the simple 5 classes a month for 5 bucks plan. That's all I really want, a minimal membership for a minimal fee and then if I skipped a month, I wouldn’t feel so guilty. Then again, right now guilt seems like the only thing that might get me back into the gym… but not tonight.

Zero, Zip, Nada
Nothing to report. Zero interesting stories. I guess I have a case of the mundane Mondays. At least work is over and behind me - that is if you don't count the two hours of cutting and project prepping I have to do before tomorrow. Now all I have to do is decide whether I'm going to watch Prison Break or Dancing with the Stars while I scissor away...
