Random Nov Recap

Jace's American Symbol project for school.  He was assigned the Lincoln Memorial.

Photo bomb...

Good thing Jon's a model maker, because I'm no help in these kind of projects.
Jace learned how to use an exacto knife, hot glue gun, and drill -
with no reported injuries!

Rylee and Jon went golfing one Saturday
so Jace and I went to an arcade place with mini bowling.

Homework is better when wrapped in hot towels from the dryer.  Lol!

One of Jace's STEAM creations based off Rapunzel.

Rock-n-roll day at school!
(Rylee only dresses up occasionally now that she's a too-cool 5th grader!)

Emily's birthday party.  Had to show off the dessert!

Great friends!  So sad that these kids will likely all be at different middle schools.
I wish they could go all through high school together!

Awards day - Rylee pulled out straight As (hard to do in the advanced classes)!

Getting a little love from her K teacher.

Rio's new groomer always sends us these pics.

An after school park play date.

Oct Recap - Halloween

The kids were able to wear costumes to school on Halloween.

Rylee and Susie acted out a whole scenario for trick-or-treat safety on the morning show.  It was so funny, but I only have video so I don't have anything to share.  There were five or six tips (like not running into the street or going into stranger's houses).  Susie was always doing the wrong way and Rylee was the responsible one who told her the right thing to do.  It was hilarious!

*As an aside, Rylee was so awesome on the morning show that when the quarter ended and the other kids were swapped out, she was promoted to a superviser.  She helps the anchors practice, makes sure the program runs smoothly, and still does special segments on camera.  She even has one segment that she is in charge of every week.  "Take Off Tuesday" highlights books that kids might want to check out from the school's library.  She finds the books for the segment and reading a synopsis on air.  So cute!*

My third grade team (minus two teachers)...

The 5th grade team dressed up like VSCO girls!

Rylee's teachers are the two on the far left.  She has Mr. Z for science and math, and Mrs. A for reading and writing.  She loves them both. :)

After school, Jon and the kids carved pumpkins.

We all wore our vampire costumes.

Jon was supposed to be our vampire victim (he did dress up with us for Marlee's party, but he didn't on Halloween - party pooper).  Here we are visiting with Ray and Jeanette before trick or treating (photo courtesy of Ray).

Like the last couple of years, the Moraes family came out with us...

...and Susie and her family.

Getting candy later in the night at Ray and Jeanette's.

It was a really fun night, but kind of weird also.  There were hardly any kids out trick or treating and not many house were passing out candy either.  This neighborhood used to be hopping on Halloween.  I don't know if the kids have all grown up or people have moved away, but it was like a ghost town (ha ha).  We might need to start crashing another neighborhood in the future!

Oct Recap - Halloween Events

October was full of costume-themed events, the first being the school's literacy night at Barnes and Noble.  It conflicted with Rylee's theater class, but Jace came with me.  Here he is with his K teacher.  (Papa and Gaga dropped Rylee off later, but she wasn't in costume).

The next event was Marlee's birthday party.  Three little vampires...

Then we had the annual Boo Bingo at school.
Vampires can be out in the sun, but it's hard on their eyes...

Shades definitely helped the situation!

We brought Susie with us...

... and met Rylee's friends there, Emily...

... and Nico.

It was a fun night and Jace almost won a bingo.  Rylee's goal is to win a bingo before she graduates from 5th grade. She should have one more bingo opportunity in the Spring - fingers crossed!  :)

Oct Recap

October was a busy month...

Rio turned 17!  Doesn't she look good after her surgery?  She could pass for 10 easy!

Jon turned 43!
(The cupcake tower was made by one of my students.)

My parents arrived (no pics of them, but here is Gypsy as proof) and Jon took off for his annual hunting trip.

While he was gone, the kids and I picked out a new couch.  We had to go a few days without one, but the kids made do with the blowup bed.  This was before school one morning.  :)

We managed to keep it secret for the two weeks Jon was gone.
Here's the new look...

Everyone loves the new recliners...

...and Jace gives the new chair his approval.

The good news is Jon liked and I didn't get in trouble for pulling a couch switcheroo while he was away.  Lol!

A few random pics like crazy hair day at school...

Rylee and Gypsy...

Rylee on Good Morning Sawgrass.  She is an anchor on our school's morning show and she is amazing!  Here she is with her friend, Susie.

Lastly, my co-teacher and I won an award for an essay that one of our student's wrote.  Now I can finally check "win a big check" off my bucket list.  Or maybe I won't - just in case there's a chance I could win the Publisher's Clearing House.  Their check has a larger amount!  wink, wink

Sept Misc

Jace and Rylee each got something new in September.

For Jace, it was glasses.  (You may have noticed them in the ice skating post).
Doesn't he look handsome!

For Rylee, it was getting her ears pierced!
We had a girls shopping day and lunch to celebrate.
She looks even more grown up now!

Here are a few Fun Friday pics:

Mismatched day...

NFL Day...

Lastly, Rylee and Jon had a father/daughter golfing day.  :)

Sept done!
