No Time...

for blogging... again!

Busy weekend...
Sat: spent the day with my cousins followed by Chinese New Year with friends.
Sun: baby shopping with Jon, school work, bills, laundry, exhaustion.

Tonight... Girl Scouts

Shout out to my mom who did all the shopping for tonight's activity (making doggie biscuits for the shelter) and *bonus!* left me dinner in the fridge. I do not deserve you. Also, sorry for being a bit of a hormonal crank lately. I promise to bring out my inner-Pollyanna around you more often. :)

Confidence

So my ob/gyn's office isn't exactly inspiring our confidence right now. Here's just a brief run down of their antics the past couple of weeks:

- The day of my first ultrasound, they had me fill out all this new paperwork (even though I've been a patient on file for over two years). Then proceeded to get me confused with another new patient. They returned my id and insurance cards to her, asked me if I wanted the cervical cancer vaccine, and almost lost my urine sample. As Jon uttered under his breath, "they're so confused, they're going to tell her she's pregnant and you that you have a STD." (Add to this the fact that we arrived an hour early since they gave me the wrong appointment time and we had to wait over 2 hours to get in...)

- Then we finally get back to the ultrasound machine room. Let me set the picture. The room is the size of a postage stamp. There's the table, the huge machine, the counter, and two chairs crammed in there. Once you added me, Jon, and the doctor, it was like a clown clinic comedy. Every time the doctor wanted to do something, she and Jon had to stand up and switch places for better viewing. Forgive my TMI, but with my legs in the stirrups during the ultrasound one knee was actually resting on Jon and the other on the doctor - that's how cramped we were!

- Fast forward a few days to when they call and ask me to verify my insurance information because they have two sets and are confused. Shocker!

- Fast forward a week to when they call to tell me that they've set up my appointment with the high risk doctor. They've picked the date and time, but have left me the number to call and get it rescheduled. When I call to do so, that office has no idea who am, says I'm not a patient on file, and have no record for an appointment for me on the day or time provided. If I'd have gotten a sub and taken off work for that... well let's just say the words "happy camper" would not have been used to describe my presence! The high risk doctor's office says they will look into it and that I will be getting a call to confirm my appointment. Still waiting for that call by the way...

- Which bring us to yesterday. I arrive at 3:30 for my ultrasound (with Jon due to arrive around 4:00 knowing the long wait we'll be facing). Guess what? I'm in and done with the ultrasound by 3:33 and I'm not exaggerating. I call Jon to tell him not to bother coming, but he is already on his way and since I have to meet with the doctor anyway, he decides to come. The lady gives me file (and my urine sample) and asks me to head down to the third floor for my appointment. After waiting in line at the desk, they rudely tell me that I am not seeing the doctor today. I try to call Jon to stop him, but now his cell service is funked up and he doesn't get my call.

- Almost forgot! The day of the first ultrasound, they were too busy to write me my prescription for prenatal vitamins, so they just gave me a stack of samples. Now those are almost gone so I ask for my prescription today. No, just another stack of samples. Whatever!

- Then I ask what's going on with my high risk doctor appointment and they assure me it is scheduled for the day and time they gave me before. When I call to reschedule, that office is already closed for the day. I left a message saying that I'm not coming, but will probably be charged some ridiculous not-enough-notice cancellation fee (even though technically I called four days ago to cancel/reschedule but at that time they didn't know I existed)!

- Dear Lord, please don't let these people have anything to do with my baby once it's born, otherwise I will always fear that it was switched at birth.

*Unrelated, but why can't I get Blogger's spellcheck to work anymore?*

Good Intentions...

...of blogging tonight, but then one of my all time favorite Friends episodes came on ("The One with Two Parties"). I can't pass that up. So here's all I have to say...

My neighbors are driving me crazy with their used car lot out front. Last night there were six vehicles and a motorcycle. How many people live over there anyway?!

Luck of the Irish

Okay, so I'm not Irish. But my name is Shannon afterall so I think it counts. Here are all the reasons why I'm feelin' lucky today:

- I won 15 bucks at Bunko last night!

- Today is day 2 of feeling good.

- I found a cockroach in my classroom today. So it doesn't start out sounding lucky, but it is. After I found the thing crawling around in my kids' communication folder box no less, I was able to 1) not scream, 2) not touch it, and 3) shake and relocate it out into the playground area. I had a momentary panic when it made a beeline right back for my classroom door and but luckily I was faster and as I rushed to shut the door I actually smushed it. So not so lucky for the cockroach, but still lucky for me.

- D**** was an angel today so teaching was a breeze.

- My relatives came into town today to stay with my Mom (shout out to Kathleen, Ian and Lilly) and as soon as this post publishes I am off to visit and have dinner with them.

How 'bout you? Feelin' lucky today?

B-U-N-K-O!

I am in good spirits and in good health today - yeah!

Today is the first day that I've felt normal. A little bit of morning ickiness, but after some crackers I was feeling fine. No students today, just a grade chair release meeting which was interesting and fun (shocking, I know!). A nice lunch at Bahama Breeze fueled me up and didn't bother my stomach at all. I have more energy today too. Good thing since I have Bunko tonight and don't want to fall asleep at the table.

Let's hope this is the start of feeling a little less zombie-like and a little more healthy, happy mommie-to-be.

Sick

I think I'm getting sick on top of being "pregnant" sick. My head is achy. My throat is scratchy. My stomach is woozy. Hard to tell the difference between pregnancy woozy and sick woozy.

All I want to do is go watch the Super Bowl and have some fun with the gang, but I think I really need a night of extreme rest.

Stupid sick!

Birthday Comes Early

As most of you know, I don't clothes shop. If it wasn't for Christmas and birthday presents, I would either be wearing the same fashions forever or walking around naked. Since I have a love of Maurices and Kohls, my mom does her shopping early and brings my presents with her to FL. This means, she's had a bag-o-clothes ready for my birthday ever since she arrived in December.

Now that she realized I might not be fitting into them in March, she decided to give them to me early! Last night, I opened cute skirts, dresses, and shirts. They fit for now (maybe a bit tighter in the boobs. (Don't get too excited, it's not like I've miraculously jumped to a DD, but I might be a B+. That's practically gigantic for me!)

It's a little weird to think that my normal clothes won't always fit. Considering I'm eating every hour and a half to keep the stomach ickiness away, that might be sooner than later. Speaking of food, I'm headed out for dinner with friends, so I have to go. I'm even wearing one of my new shirts!
