Comings & Goings

We had a busy week with family coming and going.

Going:
My Mom left for MN on Tuesday and Rylee has yet to fully forgive her. Rylee kept warning my Mom that she didn't want her to go and that "she needed her" so I guess we shouldn't have been surprised. She wouldn't hug my Mom goodbye at the airport and for several days kept zipping her lips and throwing away the key every time my Mom called! Rylee did say she loved her today and blew her a few kisses over the phone so hopefully she's getting over it. (My Mom thinks Rylee got the grudge-holding part of her personality from her so I guess she only has herself to blame!)

Coming:
On Wednesday night, my Mom's cousins were in town (my second cousins I guess, but they feel more like an Aunt and Uncle). They stopped over for a quick visit and some pizza before heading over to Naples. Rylee was absolutely cookoo. They don't have grandkids yet so I'm sure they're not used to naughty toddler behavior. It wasn't exactly the impression we would have liked to make! :)

Last night my Aunt, Kathleen, and my cousins, Ian & Lillian, were in town. They came over for some pool time and dinner. Lucky for them, Rylee was a perfect angel! Rylee loves Lil, always has, so she was beyond excited to see her and play with her last night. And since it's Lil's birthday in a couple of days, Rylee and I made her cupcakes. There's nothing Rylee likes more than cupcakes, "fire" (candles) and singing "Happy Birthday" so she was doubly excited. We let her stay up later than normal and then let Lil help put her to bed. I'm pretty sure Rylee fell asleep with a smile on her face last night (and she slept in past 7:30 this morning so we had no complaints there). The best news is that they will be able to see us on the back end of their trip too. They'll be in town next Saturday night and we're even planning an Easter brunch with them before they leave on Sunday. It's an unexpected Easter treat to have family on the holiday.

Daddy & Rylee

Picasa is acting up again so I'm doubtful this pic will actually post. If it doesn't I'll try again tomorrow since it's Jon and Rylee rocking out to Rylee's favorite song: Rockahula Luau. Check out Jon's pom poms. :)

Little Miss Cupcake

Rylee was such a brave girl today. She had to get her blood drawn for some allergy tests (I think I mentioned that last week). Luckily she has her Mommy's veins so the nurse had an easy time inserting the needle in her arm. Rylee made a little wimper, but she didn't even cry. They took 8 vials of blood so she had plenty of time to squirm or fight, but she didn't even move. I was so unbelievably proud of her. The nurses thought she was great too. They loved her.

But back to the 8 vials of blood - it seemed like a huge amount to take from such a tiny person! We came home right away and I made her a big breakfast with eggs, toast, bacon and juice. Then we lounged on the couch and watched TV for a while. She seemed fine and wanted to play in the pool so we splashed around for about an hour and then she took a nice nap. She ate a big dinner and had a cupcake for dessert. I figured she deserved one after her big day.

My mom must have thought she deserved cupcakes too because she brought Rylee a special present today - a "princess" dress (with cute little cakes and cupcakes on it) with a matching dress for Baby Elsie.

Rylee was happy to share dresses with Baby Elsie, but she wouldn't share her "hero" sticker. The nurse asked Rylee if she wanted a sticker for Baby Elsie too since she had accompanied us to the appointment. Rylee quickly answered "no, just one." The look on her face said "I didn't see Baby Elsie having to get stuck with a needle!" :)

More Ryleeisms

I came home from work with a splitting head ache last week...

Rylee: Are you sick Mommy?

Me: Just from the head up.

Rylee (in sympathy): I have a head up too.

**********

Rylee was singing the ABC song perfectly until she got to then end.

Jon: You forgot WXYZ.

Rylee: I was singing in Spanish. (like duh!)

**********

In other news, last night Jon and I went out to dinner with some friends. We met at their house for a drink, went out to a fabulous Chinese restaurant for dinner, stopped off at one of those trendy yogurt places for dessert and ended back up at their place for the yummiest after dinner drink. It was one of those truly delightful nights. I always know when I've had fun when my cheeks ache from smiling and laughing!

6:30!

We had an alarm guy at our house this afternoon checking/fixing our system (read: setting off our alarm siren every 10 minutes for two hours). Needless to say, Rylee missed her nap today.

The amazing part is she was so sleepy that she went to bed at 6:30 tonight. What a difference an hour makes! It feels like I have soooooo much evening ahead of me.

I'd like to say that I'm going to be productive and get all my little projects done, but I'm pretty sure I'm just going to read. I've been obsessed with "The Hunger Games" series these past couple of weeks and I'm currently in the middle of the last book. It is calling to me!

Rylee's Stats

Rylee got to see one of her favorite people today: Dr. S! She's been talking about nothing else for days. And I'm not even being sarcastic. :)

Here are her new stats:

Height: 38 inches (87th percentile)
Weight: 29 lbs (52nd percentile)

Dr. S recommended she go in for some blood work for additional allergy screening since she's still having some tummy issues. I'll let you know if anything turns up with that in the next week or so.

Busy and Sick

We had a busy weekend here. Saturday Rylee had a birthday party at the Little Gym and Sunday I had a baby shower to attend. I was feeling a little off the whole weekend, but by the time I came home for the shower on Sunday I was down right exhausted (and pathetic). I was in bed by 8:00 p.m. last night.

Today I was basically a couch potato. Surprisingly Rylee was excited to lounge with me - the girl loves her pajama days. In honor of our laziness, I broke out the "Tangled" DVD I had bought her for Easter. She watched the whole thing this time (versus leaving halfway through at the movie theater). It was really fun even though I was still feeling pretty miserable.

The rest of our week is super busy so I need to get to bed and rest up. I'm behind on reading blogs but I'll have to catch up another day. Hope I'm not missing anything too important! Sorry!
